2015's Most Stylish Sleepwear

With the world famous fashion shows grabbing the headlines in New York and London, it's always interesting to see what new styles the leading designers are going to dazzle us with.

However, one area that frequently seems to be omitted from the catwalks is sleepwear. Maybe it's meant to be a private choice, or maybe it's not quite as glamorous as that full-length gown. But seeing as we spend around one third of our lives in bed, I thought it's about time that I checked out the most fashionable sleepwear out there for 2015.

Pyjamas
One of the most surprising style headlines of recent times was the incredible resurgence of the humble pyjama shirt.

The pyjamas were introduced to England in the 17th century as a form of loungewear and have repeatedly fallen in and out of fashion. But 2015 could be the year of the pyjama as Debenhams reportedly saw a 34% surge in sleepwear, with pyjamas making a subtle transition into daywear thanks to style icons like Cara Delevingne rocking the pyjama look

Recent pyjama trends include colourful floral prints on silky or cotton fabrics that work especially well when worn with a tailored jacket to add a touch of definition to your look.

And with summer swiftly approaching, it's a great and relaxed look for gracefully reclining on those long and sleepy summer afternoons!

Nightgowns
Another on-trend sleepwear design that is making resurgence is the night-gown. This offers a much more glamorous look than the ratty T-shirt or horrendous onesie!

Top designer Vera Wang recently launched a sleepwear range with a gloriously soft cotton nightgown. The gown features a beautiful floral design in rich turquoises and purples that will offer a fantastic bit of garden party glamour to your boudoir!

Sleepwear is increasingly becoming important as our bedrooms shift from being places of sleep to areas of the house where we perform a variety of activities. That’s why it’s worth making sure that not only your sleepwear is comfortable and functional, but that your bed is up to standard, so why not treat yourself to an upgrade with a luxurious bed with fitted headboard!

The pyjama-short set
This is a very stylish and chic look that is also light enough to stop you overheating in bed. There are many matching outfits in this style and it's great to see many designers such as Honey Dew offering colour-coordinated styles that are cute, compact and highly functional!

The chemise
Although this is somewhat more glamorous than the some of the other items on the list, the chemise is a very sensual and lightweight style of sleepwear.

Calvin Klein recently introduced a typically minimalist chemise in black satin with a sharp V-neck that manages to be soft, flattering and highly stylish!

Faith In Nature Aloe Vera Shampoo + Conditioner Review

faith in nature shampoo and conditioner review, aloe vera shampoo and conditioner, faith in nature review, haircare, natural haircare, natural shampoo, natural conditioner,
Let me introduce to you my latest combination of haircare products. Which come in the form of this shampoo and conditioner from Faith In Nature - who have been manufacturing and selling their products for over forty years(read their story here)! Faith In Nature pride themselves on being eco-friendly and cruelty free! All their products are made from naturally sourced ingredients - which is what they believe makes them work so beautifully! They are also free from parabens, SLS, synthetic colours/fragrances, artificial preservatives and other kinds of potentially harmful substances. Most of their products are suitable for Vegans, and all are Vegetarian friendly!

As I mentioned in my last hair related post I've been trying to take much better care of my hair just lately, and I'd also just run out of my previous shampoo, so these products couldn't have arrived at a better time! I was invited to choose something from the Hair Care section of the website, and after browsing through all the intriguing products, I finally decided on the Aloe Vera range:

Faith In Nature Aloe Vera Shampoo - particularly useful if you have a sore or itchy scalp because Aloe Vera contains important substances for the skin and is renowned for its soothing properties. Other than this, the shampoo is suitable for all hair types, and is infused with citrus oils for an uplifting sensation - a great way to start the day! Unfortunately the gel-like formula didn't lather up as much as I'd have liked it to so I did have to wash my hair twice, but a little product still went a long way and it rinsed out easily, leaving my hair feeling wonderfully clean and refreshed. The citrus scent was very noticeable but not overpowering.

Faith In Nature Aloe Vera Conditioner - Again this would help if you have any irritating scalp problems due to the active Aloe Vera ingredient. After washing with the Aloe Vera shampoo and rinsing out the product. I massaged this conditioner through the lengths of my hair and left to sink in for about 10 minutes (although 5 minutes would be sufficient). Again the citrus scent was noticeable, and awakening! As I rinsed the product from my hair I could really feel how silky soft and smooth it had made my hair!

After using the products, both my hair and scalp felt deep-cleansed, soft, and refreshed! I also noticed a little extra shine and less frizziness to my hair than normal. Even after blow-drying! I was really impressed with the short term effects of the shampoo, and I will continue to use these products in my attempt to recover my dry and damaged hair! Finally, I should add that I was amazed at the price of these products, as they are really cheap compared to other natural/organic products I've come across. Full price they each retail at £5.35! I would definitely recommend giving the Faith In Nature range a try! I've now got my eyes on their Coconut hair care products ;)

Have you tried Faith In Nature or any other natural hair-care products, and do you notice a difference from using other high street brands?

Next thing she's wearin' my Rolex ♬

Next thing she's wearing my Rolex ♬... Yeah we all know that line of that song...

I will begin by saying, or rather stating the obvious, that given my current financial situation I could only ever dream of owning a Rolex! However many stylish and influential celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian are very often snapped wearing luxurious timepieces by Rolex, and aren't they just gorgeous?! The watches I mean! As well as the ladies wearing them of course!

Anyway, I was recently invited to check out Swiss-Wrist.com, who are one of the worlds largest online retailers of Rolex. they have a huge range of watches and have been providing customers with a high quality service in the luxury watch industry for over a decade. All their products are covered by a 3 year warranty and have a lifetime authenticity guarantee, so you're bound to be happy with your purchase, and if not, offer a great refund and exchange policy. Swiss Wrist offer both new and used Rolex, and all their used products have been through a complete overhaul and service to restore the timepiece to it's original factory spec - guaranteeing you peace of mind!

I decided it would be a nice idea to write a little feature here on my blog showcasing some of my personal favourite watches from their website in the ladies Rolex watches section. I have pictured my 3 favourite above!

On the left, is a pre-owned 18K yellow gold piece from the Crown collection. This is my absolute favourite, and it's really not hard to see why! It's so blingy, I love it! It has a pearl face, with diamond bezel and dial - link

Next up is the two-tone rose gold watch, again this has a pearlescent face - love! This one has a fluted bezel which adds a little extra detailing! This one does have some diamonds for the dial on the face too which looks gorgeous without making the sparkles too over the top! - link

Finally, this one would be a little out of my usual style choice, but I couldn't resist because the deep navy coloured face just looks so classic and different! It's a yellow gold piece from the midsize Presidents range, and has a diamond bezel and gold dial, everything about this watch just looks completely luxurious! - link

What Rolex would you love to own?

Oral healthcare... Not something you tend to see on beauty blogs. Yet our teeth play such an important part in our appearance, and if we're not happy with our gnashers, it can affect our day to day lives massively. Luckily, I have never had any problems with my teeth. I've not felt the need to have braces fitted as they are quite straight and well fitted in my mouth, and they are reasonably white and stain free.

I have a naughy little secret to share with you though... at the grand old age of 23 I have only ever been to the dentist once and have no intention of returning! Shocking I know, but I feel that I look after my teeth well, and to be honest I just can't afford get regular check-ups. But if you can, you definitely should!

Anyway, here are some top tips for looking after your teeth and general oral health and hygeine:

Chuck your old toothbrush // You should get a new toothbrush, or change the head of your electric toothbrush. every 2-3 months Once you notice the bristles starting to go a bit flat, its time to chuck it! Not only will a new toothbrush clean your teeth better but you're also getting rid of the bacteria stuck in your old brush!

Clean your tongue! // I honestly don't know how anyone can say their mouth is clean without brushing their tongue! It's crazy. I always buy toothbrushes with the rubber tongue scraper on the back to do this! One of the main causes of bad breath is buildup of bacteria on your tongue. So get scraping!

Use the right toothpaste // I tend to have two toothpastes at any one time. The main toothpaste I use is Colgate Max White One Optic which combines clinically proven optic brighteners that reflect light, with unique cleaning particles that safely remove stains, making your teeth smooth, clean, and visibly whiter from the first brush! Continued use helps whiten your teeth further and keep them whiter for longer! I also have a small tube of Sensodyne Rapid Relief. As I do have a couple of fillings from my visit to the dentist (I never had sensitivity problems before this). I only suffer with sensitive teeth occasionally, but brushing with this soon sorts that out, and the relief can last all day!

Use baking soda for extra stain removal // Baking soda is well renowned for its stain removing properties, so why not use a dab on a wet toothbrush just once a week for a little extra whiteness booster! This can be especially handy if you're a smoker or drink lots of coffee, tea, red wine etc.

Wash and rinse // You wouldn't wash your hair and not rinse it out afterwards, would you? Well your mouth should be treated the same! Make sure to use a mouthwash after brushing your teeth. I use Dentyl Active Plaque Fighter which comes in a variety of delicious, fresh flavours including Fresh Clove and Smooth Mint! I particularly like the novelty of this mouthwash, you must shake to activate the two-phase formula, which when gargled in the mouth lifts bacteria and debris from the teeth and mouth surfaces and when you spit you can physically see the evidence that it's worked! There are also specialist mouthwashes like CB12 which are specifically designed to combat bad breath. Here is my full CB12 review

Don't forget to floss // Flossing your teeth regularly is super important to remove any bits of food which get stuck and brushing alone can't remove! I do try to floss my teeth every night before bed after brushing, so that anything I've eaten during the day doesn't stay between my teeth decay during the night.

Chew sugar-free gum // Chewing gum not only freshens your breath but it also helps remove bacteria from the surfaces of your mouth and teeth. It also increases saliva production which neutralises plaque acid and prevents mouth dryness. My personal favourite is Wrigleys Extra Cool Breeze Sugar Free Gum

Brush your teeth properly // When I was younger I always used to brush my teeth quite hard by scrubbing in an up and down motion. However you should brush gently in a circular motion to prevent damaging your teeth!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away // Switch "doctor" with "dentist" and that old saying actually does have a meaning! Apples can be used as a natural cleaning agent for your teeth! Try eating an apple at the end of your meal to clean away the remnants of your food.

What are your top tips for keeping your mouth healthy and your teeth clean?

When it comes to styling my hair, well to put it simply, I don't! Haha. I kinda gave up doing anything other than washing/conditioning and brushing my hair over the last year or so in an attempt to help repair damage after years of colour and heat abuse! Which, by the way has worked very well, its grown so much, and feels/looks much healthier without any heat or styling damage.

However, I was recently asked if I'd like to try out the Diva Chromatix Intelligent Digital Styler and I couldn't wait to give it a go! My first thought was that after owning GHD's for the past 10 years or so, was that this styler would never compare. Oh how I was wrong in thinking so! Because I actually love it, and would definitely recommend to you if you're looking for a great quality, reasonably priced hair styler!

The Diva Chromatix Intelligent Styler retails at just £59.99 from Sally Express and is available in a range of beautiful bold colours, from pinks, purples and blues to orange, green and yellow, and each have a colour matched Chromatix 3400 Hair Dryer! So if you a bit obsessive compulsive, you could get the matching coloured tools!

The box looks pretty fancy, like something you would expect from a high-end brand, and included an instruction manual, along with a heat-proof silicone mat - great if, like me you usually just leave your straighteners on the bed or side table! The styler has a super convenient 3mtr long swivel cord! I noticed that the straightener had ceramic plates, which(according to the manufacturer) are infused with Argan Oil and use infrared conditioning! The adjustable digital heat setting starts at 120ºC up to 220ºC (which equals the highest temp of my GHD styler). I set them to the max temperature, and from switch on, it took approx 30 seconds to heat fully!

You may notice that I've been calling this a "styler" rather than a "straightener" this is because as a universal styler, it is suitable for all hair types and styles which allows you to create a multitude of different hairstyles including straight, curly and wavy! You can see a couple of quick styles that I tried out in the photos above. Of course, I first brushed my hair through to remove any knots or tangles, and applied a heat-protection spray!

Straightened - the styler was really easy to use, it literally glided through my hair without tugging, and the finished result was super sleek and ridiculously shiny!

Loosely curled/Volume - I found the styler easy to twist and maneuver through the lengths of my hair, and again, curled without tugging or getting stuck. This style didn't take long at all - perfect if you want to achieve some loose curls or add a bit of volume to your hair!

Curled or Wavy - You could use the styler to add tighter curls for a full style! Or if you wanted to achieve some "beach waves" then you could use the styler as you would to straighten your hair but flip the straighteners over in your hair as you go downwards(if that even makes sense?).

I should also mention that if the straighteners are not used for 10+ minutes, they will switch off automatically, thanks to their energy saving auto-switch off function! Again, this is ideal for me, because I'm a nightmare when it comes to remembering to switch things off before I leave the house!

Overall, I would highly recommend these straighteners, especially if you're looking for GHD's but your budget doesn't quite cut it! They are literally half the price of the latest models, and work equally as well! Not to mention you can use this particular styler to achieve a range of looks, perfect for every occasion!

What is your go-to hair styler? Have you tried anything from the Diva range before, and what are your thoughts??

Aren't these just the cutest things you ever did see? As soon as I clapped eyes on them I knew I would love them, even if it was because they made me reminisce about my childhood! Who else's parents always had Mini Milk's in the freezer in the summer? My favourite was definitely the strawberry! What was yours?

This adorable Wall's Mini Milk scented and flavoured novelty trio comes from the cult american brand Lip Smacker. I've never actually tried any of the products from this brand before but I've seen them on sale in the likes of Topshop, Superdrug, Claires and I'm pretty sure Primark usually has some around Christmas time too! There are some other funky flavours too, including various soft drinks... Coca Cola, Sprite, Fanta etc. And one of the latest additions which is the Disney's Frozen themed gift set!

The Lip Smackers Walls Mini Milk trio contains Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla scented balms. Each of which look exactly the same colour as they would in ice cream form, but fear not, when applied, they are sheer, so you're not going to end up with chocolate coloured lips lol!  Each one smells absolutely delicious, and once on the lips, you feel the urge to lick them off, as they actually taste really nice too!

The balms come in a twist up/down application stick, are easy to apply, and they do so softly and smoothly without tugging on the lips. And although I didn't find them super moisturising or nourishing (which I feel my lips really need during these cold, harsh winter months) they do provide sufficient moisture for a couple of hours or so to protect your lips from any further damage. Also, they would be ideal to pop in your handbag for a little top up during the day. Overall a wonderful product at a great price!

The trio retails at £5.99 which I find very reasonable for three tasty lip balms, and they would make a lovely treat for yourself or as a novelty gift for the beauty lovers!

Secrets To Keeping Your Diamond Jewellery Sparkling Clean

While diamonds may be the hardest substance on earth, they can still be damaged so it's imperative to handle them with care. Technically, diamonds can only be cut by another one, but many things can cause your diamond ring so use caution and take it off and store it if you're going to be doing tasks that may damage it.

Tips for Caring and Cleaning Your Diamond Ring:
Cleaning your diamond needs to become part of your regular routine so that it lasts forever. With these tips, it should keep its sparkle:

  • Avoid touching your diamond ring as little as possible, as well as preventing others from actually touching the diamond when exclaiming over the new ring.
  • Remove your ring before doing daily activities such as showering, dishes, or laundry. This is because soap or detergent forms a film on the diamond, making it appear dull. Take off your ring and store it a specialized ring holder.
  • The same could be said for using hand cream, perfume, or make-up while wearing your engagement or wedding ring. Grease and oils affect diamonds so when it accidently gets on your ring, it can harden between the prongs, and the diamonds will set in the ring.
  • Leave your rings at home in a jewellery box when swimming or playing other sports. Diamonds become scratched easily, and chlorine can damage them even further.
  • Store your rings in a fabric-lined jewellery case with separate compartments so your diamond jewellery will not touch other pieces and get scratched. Consider keeping each in its fabric pouch for extra protection.
  • Clean your diamond jewellery routinely, at least once or twice a week. Use an ammonia-based solution like a window cleaner and soak your ring in it overnight. In the morning, remove it, and clean it, with a new, soft-bristled toothbrush and remove any extra dirt and grime. Pay attention to the back of the diamond as dirt can get hidden there. Rinse with warm water and dry with gentle lint-free cloth.
  • Use caution with antique rings as they may be fragile so clean them gently so you don't disturb anything.
  • Use a professional cleaner from the jeweller. Many diamond brokers in Queensland will recommend that you have a professional do your cleaning for you. Leave it to the experts. Most of these feature their own cleaning tray and brush. Some of these include strainers right in the tray to make it easier to clean your diamond jewellery.
  • Check over diamond jewellery regularly, looking for any loose stones and issues with your prongs. Take it to your jeweller immediately if you see any problems and at least once a year just for preventative maintenance. Besides tightening the diamond, they can retip the prongs if they've become too thin.
  • Take your diamond jewellery to your jeweller to get professionally cleaned yearly. While you can an ultrasonic cleaner at home, it's recommended to let the professionals handle it. This method sends high-frequency sound ways through its detergent to clean your diamonds but sometimes it can jar loose stones so it's better to have it professionally cleaned.

Did you purchase your custom made diamond engagement rings? If so, you'll probably remember the proposal for years to come and want your ring that long as well. Have you tried some of the above tips before or do you have others to share for keeping your diamond rings sparkling clean?

Happy Valentine's Day ♥

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! Whether you're spending the day/evening alone, with your loved one, with your family, or even just snuggled up with your pets like myself haha(cue the crazy cat lady comments!) I hope you've had a lovely day!

Without going into too much detail, my situation in life right now absolutely sucks! And my relationship isn't much better - so Valentine's day couples celebrations were definitely off the table for the two of us. Anyway, I decided that this wasn't going to get in the way of me having a nice day to myself! After all, I work all week, so why wouldn't I wanna enjoy my weekend!? I decided I would have a ME DAY, doing what I like and enjoy :D

I woke up reasonably early this morning, got dressed, and then spent some time dolling myself up a little... I curled my hair and did my make-up half decently for the first time in a long, long time. Even this made me instantly feel better!

valentines day, happy valentines day, valentines day makeup look,
I curled my hair using my new Diva Chromatix Styler (full review coming soon).

I haven't done any nail art posts for a while here on my blog, so it was nice to sit and do my nails again. I did a Valentine's theme design, which was super simple. I applied two coats of Barry M White polish, waited for this to dry and then used a sharpie marker pen to draw on the love hearts and writing!
I then decided to do a bit of baking, considering I hadn't yet used my new mini cake tins from B&M! I made one of each shape...
The first one was just a round tin, and I made this cute cake with vanilla buttercream icing and white chocolate stars, and filled with jam and buttercream.
I then cooked us some tea, I tried to put in a bit of effort and cooked us this Peppered steak with cheesy jacket potato, onion rings, egg, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and sweetcorn. It didn't taste too bad either ;)
This was the other cake I made using the heart shaped tin, I had visioned it to look much better than this, but hey, its the thought that counts, right? haha.
I then had a nice hot shower, before settling down to do some blogging with a nice hot cuppa and burning my current favourite Yankee Candle in "Soft Blanket".

Overall I've had a nice pampering and relaxing day. So even if you don't have the money to go out somewhere fancy you could still make the best of it!

What have you been up to today?

Antique, Vintage and Period Jewellery

Unfortunately being on a tight budget, like I'm sure most of my readers are too, fashion jewellery seems to be the way to go! As its not only budget-friendly but convenient and easy to swap and change with each outfit/style. But seriously, what I wouldn't give to own a piece of fine jewellery! How gorgeous are these pieces I've picked out??

I love coloured stones in rings, my favourite stone is the Sapphire! The blue is just so beautiful, I also like Diamonds, Pearls and Pearlescent stones, and I've put together the above collage with some of my favourite things!

They are all from the George Tarratt website, who specialise in all kinds of fine jewellery. I've literally been browsing through the Antique/Period section of their website for the past hour! There are some truly mesmerising pieces. Perfect for that special someone in your life!

Let's just clear up a couple of things first... Antique means that the item is 100+ years old. Often meaning that you'd be very hard pushed to find one the same, not to mention that it will be of a high quality, hand-crafted workmanship as it has stood the test of time, so well worth investing in!

A term that gets used quite often in the blogger world is Vintage and from doing a bit of research, this term applies to jewellery which is over 20 years old, but under a century.

The term Period, classifies the time during which the piece was made, for example, some common periods are: Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco.

Naturally Antique, or even Vintage jewellery, could be seen as a nice investment for a family heirloom, to pass on through the generations to come!

What piece of jewellery would you like to own? And what is your favourite Period style?

What is the Difference Between Gold and White Gold Wedding Rings?

As part of my wedding series here on Laura's All Made Up I have a new related post for you today about wedding rings. This post is particularly interesting because it has a bit of a technical/science background to it, so although fashion and style related, you might learn something too ;)

When it comes time for you to invest in a wedding ring, you will be amazed at the overwhelming variety of choices that you will encounter. Most will desire to acquire a diamond-bearing ring, but they will still have to choose among princess cut, brilliant cut, and emerald cut styles. Contours, stone arrangements, engravings, and size will all come into play. It might be easy, with all this attention given to other factors, to overlook one of the most basic: what material will the ring itself be made out of?

Why Gold?
While silver, titanium, and other metals have come on the scene, nothing compares with gold. Gold is the classic, unbeatable metal to plate wedding rings with. Its appeal derives in part from its lustrous shine and attractiveness. Its value, based on its relative rarity, also plays a role. The fact that gold is soft and malleable, while at the same time being dense and highly resistant to water, air, and the elements, is yet another reason why gold has been the dominant choice for wedding rings over the centuries.

One might think that, once gold has been decided upon, there would be nothing more involved in the decision-making process. However, one must also choose from a variety of "shades" of gold as well as what karat level they will settle on.

Yellow Gold
Many are asking the question, "What is the difference between gold and white gold wedding rings?" By "gold," is generally meant yellow gold. The purest form of gold is known as 24 karat and consists simply of 100% (or at least 99.9%) pure gold. The natural yellowness of the metal shines through strong, but, since gold is so soft and malleable, this type of gold is easier to scratch or dent. Of course, one can take extra care and enjoy the radiance and purity of yellow gold. For those who can't afford 24 karat or who worry about damaging yellow gold, there are other options.

Many Kinds of Gold
Before we get into white gold, note that most gold is mixed with other metals to form an alloy. This alloy can be with heavy amounts of copper to form rose gold, common in antique and Russian jewelry. It can also be with iron for blue gold, with aluminum for purple gold, and the list goes on. The two most common types of gold used on wedding rings in the U.K., however, are yellow gold and white gold.

White Gold
White gold is the alloy of gold and one or more "whitish" metal. Common among these additives are nickel, manganese, and palladium. Nickel is added for strength and hardness. Palladium is softer and is more helpful with gemstone fittings. Sometimes, copper and silver are added in to increase the overall weight and durability of the white gold. Finally, it is common for white gold to be plated with rhodium to give it a nicer shine.

Which Gold Do I Choose?
To a large extent, the choice will depend simply on personal taste. Yellow gold is the most popular all-time, the "classic" choice, but white gold has enjoyed the most popularity in recent years. You should seek some advice from a professional jeweler, such as Laings of Glasgow (175 years of experience), in coming to a final decision. They carry a huge range of yellow and white gold wedding rings for you to peruse through, the biggest and best stash in all of Scotland. You will want to ask some specifics about the exact karat level and alloy composition of the ring to ensure the best choice.

Does Derma White treatment really lighten dark skin?

No matter who you are or what your skin type... whether young or old, dark or fair, normal, combination, dry or sensitive, we all have our personal worries about our skin's appearance. Although others may not really notice, when you're looking in the mirror each morning to see what's changed, you certainly notice it! Sometimes these problems, no matter how big or small can really affect our day to day lives. I am fairly happy with the skin I'm in for now, minus the odd spot breakout here and there, but I understand that some of you may have problems you'd like to get resolved. Now I've spoken about skin treatments here on my blog before, and today I have another post for you about lightening dark skin, which can be a really useful and effective treatment for many skin woes.

Does Derma White treatment really lighten dark skin?

Pigmentation, scars, and other skin disorders can cause the darkening or lightening of skin. Patches of pigmented skin, in particular, can cause embarrassment, a loss of self-esteem, and other social and emotional problems for sufferers. While laser treatment has been used successfully for these conditions on people with lighter skin tones, there have been mixed results on the use of laser to help lighten dark skin. Modern techniques, proper preparation, consultation with a trained laser technician, and a combination of skin lightening therapies, however, have shown to give equally positive results to those with dark skin types.

Does Derma White Treatment Really Lighten Dark Skin Caused By Pigmentation?

Pigmentation is a common cause of darkened skin. The term pigmentation literally means colouring, and hyperpigmentation is the official name given to the darkening of skin. Hyperpigmentation may present in patches, spots, or over large areas of the skin. While it can appear anywhere on the body, it can be especially problematic when it appears on prominent areas like the face and neck, hands and arms, and legs.

Eczema, dry skin, acne scarring, and the continued use of harsh products on the skin can cause and exacerbate the problem of darkened skin. Although it may be tempting to try and cover up blotches of skin by lightening the colour with makeup and other products, special care needs to be taken to ensure that the individual is not making matters worse through the application of products that contain harsh chemicals. While this may cover up the problem, although it rarely does so to any great effect, it could be making the underlying problem much worse.

Does Derma White Treatment Really Lighten Dark Skin After One Session?

Skin lightening creams and moisturisers are available on the market, and some of these can have a positive effect, but the most effective technique for lightening dark skin has proven to be a combination of lightening creams with microdermabrasion and modern laser techniques. The creams prepare the area, the microdermabrasion effectively loosens and deadens the unwanted dark skin cells, and the laser encourages the growth of new, naturally coloured skin to appear in its place.

The process is not considered painful, although patients will feel something akin to a sharp scratching and may feel their skin heating up during the laser application. A single session may generate reasonable results, but a technician will usually indicate that several sessions, usually lasting little more than 15 minutes each, will be required. The actual number and length of appointments will depend on the severity of the pigmentation, the size of the affected area, and the patient’s responsiveness to the treatment.

The Process

An initial skin patch test is conducted, and this will give the technician a clearer picture of how intensely they can treat the area. It will also give them a better idea of how effective an individual session will be, and the technician will therefore be able to advise the patient of how many sessions they are likely to need.

Blood spots may appear immediately after the treatment, but these should heal within about a week. Inflammation is also to be expected and should heal naturally over the course of a few days. Positive results may be experienced once these natural reactions have subdued, and this will allow for additional treatment sessions to be introduced, in order to enjoy even better results.

A professional technician at The Laser Treatment Clinic, Harley Street, London, can discuss the process, arrange for the skin patch test, and ensure that all of a patients’ questions are answered before the procedure begins.

Valentines Gift Guide For Couples! ❤

Valentine's Day. Like Marmite, you either love it or hate it! Now don't get me wrong, I've been there, done that and in previous years I've put some real effort in to make it a nice day for the two of us. However, this year I am well and truly sick and tired of hearing about it. Probably due to the fact money is tight at the moment, so why the hell would I want to waste what little money I have on tacky gifts and crap for one day of the year?? On the contrary... I've put together this Valentine's Gift Guide For Couples with some useful and meaningful gifts for you and your loved one to choose/shop for together, get some use out of and enjoy together.
VALENTINES DAY GIFT GUIDE FOR COUPLES
HIS N HERS TOWELS // Now I am making the assumption that we all have a wash at some point haha, just kidding. But a nice way to set the mood is to have a nice relaxing bath or shower together. And this "his n hers" towel set would be perfect for the two of you. In contrasting blue and white shades with embroidered writing it would look lovely in your bathroom too.

COUPLES LOVE CUSHIONS // These adorable printed cushions would make the perfect addition to your home! Especially if you're newly engaged. "I stole her heart, So I'm stealing his last name". They could be used on your sofa, or on  your bed for extra decoration :)

VALENTINES DAY COOKBOOK // Instead of spending ridiculous amounts of money on overpriced meals just for Valentine's day, why not make something together at home? This Valentines cookbook is ideal for you to pick out a recipe together and have fun cooking with your other half! :)

HISS N PURRS VALENTINES MUGS // As soon as I saw these mugs on Simoney name badges, I fell in love. You may have already noticed I'm quite the "Crazy Cat Lady" and these cute feline printed mugs make the perfect combination with a nice cuppa tea for you and your "Crazy Cat Guy".

COUPLES PUZZLE KEYRINGS // A little novelty, but I think these are really cute. They look nice, and would be perfect to attach to your house keys.

COUPLES DATE JAR // A way for you to plan some time together. The jar contains 12 cards with ideas for fun and romantic dates, along with 12 blank cards for you to plan your own! You fold up the cards, and then pick out one each week/fortnight/month (however often you like) and do what is on the card you've chosen :)

FAVOURITE LYRICS PRINT // If you have a song you both love, why not get one of these prints made with the lyrics on it, and hang it somewhere in your house. Not only does it look great, but will be meaningful for the both of you in your home!

ALWAYS KISS ME GOODNIGHT WALL STICKER // If I was allowed to decorate(unfortunately I'm limited due to rented accomodation) I would definitely get one of these wall stickers for the bedroom to go above the bed! This is a lovely quote, and perfect for a couples bedroom.

VALENTINES PRINTED COUPLES T SHIRTS // Another novelty idea, but I thought these Valentines couples t-shirts were really fun and cute. If you aren't brave enough to wear them out together then they would be good to wear and slob out in the house together.

Mr Nutcase Personalised iPhone 4S Case Review

I've been stuck with my iPhone 4S for the last few years, mainly due to lack of funds to be able to purchase myself a later model, however... it has served me well so far, so I can't knock it! Anyway, I find that I get bored of things very easily, and this is the case with my phone, so I thought it was about time to get a new phone case to spruce it up a little!

I already own way too many phone cases, most of which were purchased for just a couple of pounds on eBay and Amazon. But I was recently offered a personalised phone case from Mr Nutcase, so I snapped up the opportunity! I already have this personalised photo collage phone case from there, but I wanted something different this time. So I thought I would design my own! I used a floral rose and stripe background, and then added my own fonts and quote, and used an image of the cats which I found on Google, and fitted it all together nicely before uploading it to Mr Nutcase and placing my order.

I was very surprised at how good the print quality and colours are on the final result, its perfect! I chose the ultra lightweight slimline option - which fits my phone perfectly allowing space for the side buttons and camera hole where they should be. I can barely feel that the case is on my phone... which is good, because I hate bulky cases!

This case costs £14.95, which personally is a little expensive for my usual budget, but this would make a wonderful gift for someone special (hint: Valentine's Day soon!) or as a treat to yourself?! Oh, and you can get 10% off your order using the code "Thanku10" at checkout. Also, if you "Like" Mr Nutcase on Facebook at the checkout stage you will get a free screen protector for your phone too!

Purrfectbox Review - January Edition

Ever wondered what your feline friends are saying with their endless "meowing"? What's really going through their heads, and what would they tell us if they could speak human?? Well I thought it would be a fun idea to let my little Furrbabies Bella and Felix(read more about them here) guest post for this review today...

Felix: "To my fellow male kitties, I don't really care that the box is pink, it looks funky, so I'm gonna go and sit in it for a while and let the crazy lady takes some photographs!"

Bella: "Suppose I'll just take a back seat for a while, and watch while that idiot poses for photographs in the box, then I'll kick his ass in a fight for the goodies!"

We already have endless amounts of fun toys and tasty treats from mommy, but we are pretty hard to please! However when a surprise gift from the lovely people at Purrfectbox arrived whilst we were asleep in our cosy hut we soon woke up to find out what was inside! Purrfectbox is a monthly subscription box for cats! Containing a range of treats, toys and care for us kitties! Anyway, after we scrapped it out between ourselves, we did some investigating, to find the box was packed full of great stuff including:
- Something new to scratch, instead of the usual... humans, furniture, curtains and textured wallpaper, in the form of this awesome Wasabycat wooden scratching block, which came with catnip to sprinkle between the slats - which sends us crazy (although we're pretty crazy already).
- A couple of new play toys, we were particularly a fan of the horse? shaped one which makes a rustling sound - we like noisy things! The other one was from Flamingo cat toys, which is on an elastic string - great fun! Although we're sure these will soon be lost in the cat toy graveyard underneath the sofa!
- A rather posh looking sachet and tin of Tuna cat food from Schesir. We scoffed the lot without complaint - literally did not touch the sides!
-  Avanti crunchy cat treats - these look a lot like our favourites(Dreamies) and taste just as good too, so we are happy.
- Last of all the Sanicat Professional Aloe Vera Wash Mitts. Let's get one thing straight - We do not like having a bath... not one little bit! But because we are still young, we haven't quite got the hang of cleaning ourselves yet, so mom keeps bathing us - where we cry, throw water everywhere and scratch everything in sight. So these mitts are a welcomed relief - we can be cleaned without being thrown in the bath, and we smell really lovely afterwards too ;)
If you have a special feline friend like us, then you should  get your paws on a Purrfectbox monthly goody box for your cat subscription, for just £19.90 (inc. delivery) - A small price to pay for a purr-ing furballs happiness?!

We are lucky enough to have been given a loving home, but there are a lot of us who are less fortunate and ended up in shelters after being abandoned. Purrfectbox do their bit by contributing financially to help to the rescue, feed, train and re-home these poor, innocent little babies into their new forever-homes! So each time you buy a Purrfectbox not only does it makes your cat happy, it makes cats all over the country happy too! Why not check out this lovely little video :)

Vegas' Dream Spa Vacations

Whilst every year millions of people flock to the jewel of Nevada, Las Vegas, for excitement, excess and a taste of the glamorous lifestyle, bright neon signs and ten minute wedding chapels aren't for everyone! Even if you love the non-stop energy of Vegas there will likely come a point during your vacation that you need a little rest and relaxation, and thankfully there are a great number of spas in and around Vegas where you can be massaged, scrubbed and ladled in mud to your heart's content! Here are some of my favourite examples of these leisurely haunts.

Sahra Spa and Hammam, The Cosmopolitan

Decorated in a style that perfectly encapsulates the dry desert surroundings of Las Vegas, the Sahra Spa and Hammam, located in Vegas' newest Strip hotel, is one of the city's best. Lined with earthy woods, sandstone and glittering star lighting, the hotel offers, among a huge menu of treatments, a signature line up of Sahra Hammam-only treatments that you won't find in any of the other hotels or resorts! Body detoxification, steam-based treatments and soaking treatments that will leave your skin soft and supple- great for when you're strung out from too much late night partying!

Qua Baths and Spa, Caesar's Palace

In Vegas, most visitors will, at some point or another, find themselves at the tables, slots or wheels enjoying a little nail biting excitement. Even when back at the hotel, many who have caught the gaming bug for their stay will be playing games via online providers- Euro Palace casino can be played from anywhere in the world, after all- although even the thrill of winning can make one's muscles rather ropey and taut! The Qua Baths and Spa at Caesar's Palace is the perfect panacea for these kinds of ills- with a huge number of different massage and treatment packages on offer you won't have to worry about those aching limbs any longer!

Spa Bellagio, The Bellagio
The Spa Bellagio is one of Vegas' most endowed spas in terms of the number and variety of treatments available. Asian Ashiatsu massages are very popular, although cookyly- named treatments such as Deep Coconut Surrender, Danza Delle Mani Massage, Cooling Eye Therapy and the ever-romantic Couples Massage are all equally rejuvenating. Open from as early as six in the morning, I've always wondered how many people get in from a night on the tiles, only to slink away into the steam room or whirl pools, ridding themselves of the night's excesses! I may have to experience that during a future stay!
