MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches & Giveaway!

Last week saw the release of yet another new product from MUA... In the form of these Power Pout's. As soon as I saw them available to buy on-line I couldn't wait to get my hands on them. I mentioned them in a preview post the other day that I'd bought the whole collection. They arrived very quickly in the post yesterday, and I just managed to squeeze in some photographs after work while it was still light, to bring you my review with swatches as promised...

I AM DOING A GIVE AWAY FOR ONE OF THE SHADES... KEEP READING TO SEE HOW TO ENTER! :)

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

"Available in six rich bold shades from chic nude ‘Rendez Vous’ to deep rich raspberry ‘Broken Hearted’, our new colour intense lip tints will ensure your lips will look good enough to kiss!"

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

The collection contains 6 shades from deep berry to hot pinks to nudes, which ensure there is a colour to suit everyone! They have been referred to as the budget alternative to the Clinique Chubby Sticks and Revlon Kissable Balm Stains. They have the same concept as in they are a moisturising lip treatment to provide relief from dry and cracked lips whilst also providing a glossy hint of colour, similar to a lip gloss but without the stickiness.

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

The packaging is almost identical to that of the above mentioned alternatives, being that the main body and lid of the stick is coloured the same as the balm itself and there is a chrome section at the base. They look ever so pretty all lined up together, don't they?

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

The applicator is a handy "crayon" shape, which makes easy work of lining and filling in the lips to give a neat, bold finish. The balm is retractable to release more product as you wear it down by using the chrome twist mechanism at the bottom of the tube.

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

Upon application I noticed that they do have a slight Minty scent, akin to that of the Revlon Balm Stains, but not as strong. Also a few seconds after, I felt a tingling sensation on my lips, it wasn't too intense, just... nice :) I know some people aren't keen or are too sensitive to this but I just took it as a sign that the treatment was working on my lips to infuse moisture.

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

The formula... To be honest with you, I really don't know how to describe it! It's kind of a solid jelly balm if that makes sense? It's lightweight, and non-sticky. Application is quick and easy. The colour transfers equally across the lips. They aren't too highly pigmented, they just provide a flush of colour, but this isn't to be expected from a balm formula anyway, right?

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

In terms of wear-time, I've worn "Broken Hearted" to work today, and even through drinking cups of tea/coffee and snacking this morning, it still lasted a good 3-4 hours before I felt the need to re-apply. Even at this point, the stain was still visible on my lips, but the smoothness/gloss effect had worn off. This easily competes with the lasting power of the Revlon Balm Stains, which lasts around the same amount of time.

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

Crazy In Love - Deep Berry Purple/Red.
Irreplaceable - Hot "Barbie" Pink.
Runway - Vibrant Red With Orange Undertone.
Broken Hearted - Raspberry Pink.
Rendezvous - Natural Beige/Nude.
Justify - Peachy Orange.

MUA Power Pout Review & Swatches

Overall I think these Power Pout's are an absolute steal at just £3 each, and are easily comparable to the higher end versions such as Revlon! They provide the same formula, finish and wear time at just a fraction of the price. As I say there is a shade to suit everyone, and most of them are wearable all year round. Definitely something to invest in.

So, what are you waiting for? You can buy them on-line at muastore.co.uk ~ link
Alternatively, they'll be available in Superdrug stores from 10th April.

Confessions Of A Blogger Tag

I've seen this tag flying around the blogosphere for a few weeks now,  and decided it was about time to give it a go myself! I love tags, especially when you're in a bit of a rut as to what to post on your blog, they're the perfect type of post to keep your readers interested and also for everyone to get to know you a little better! So here goes...

Confessions Of A Blogger Tag

When did you start your blog?
I set up this blog in May 2012, but my first ever post was on 9th June 2012!

Have you had any past online presence before (Other blog, YouTube)?
I did have another blog before this for a couple of months, it was under the same name, however all my photo's I'd uploaded suddenly disappeared and I had to delete my blog in the end as it just looked an awful mess. However I feel I've done a much better job with everything this time round :) I've never had any other blogs or youtube accounts previously, however would like to set up a Youtube in the future once I get the confidence to put my face on videos to the entire world! (Wow, it sounds so daunting put like that)

Why did you start a blog?
Id been reading other Blogs and watching Youtube videos for months and I loved how everyone in the blogging world seemed to get on so well with each other. So I really wanted to be a part of this and share my thoughts too. I also started to get into nail art and nail varnish and I thought it would be a great way to post photo's of my designs.

When did you become serious about starting a blog?
I've always been serious about blogging, although it is just a hobby for me I try to put as much effort and time in as I can. I really hope that my blog will continue to grow as it has done so far. Although I wish I had more time to put into it :(

What was your first post?
My first post (other than Bloglovin' link) was a review on the Nails Inc Catwalk Collection. So right from the start I was posting about nail varnish, ha!

What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
My biggest challenge is TIME! I work full time so I barely get the time to come up with new ideas for posts or get the time to sit down and write them or take photographs either! I always have to wait until the weekend to actually see some natural daylight to take some decent quality photo's. Which also makes it hard for me to do FOTD and OOTD posts too, which I would really like to start including in my blog.

Where do you see your blog in one year?
Well, I hope its still here for a start, and that I don't have to abandon it. Also, I just hope it continues to grow and get more people involved. I'd also really love to attend some sort of bloggers meet up. I live in the West Midlands, so if anybody knows of any... please let me know! :)

What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
Definitely the comments, I love seeing that people have actually thought about and engaged with the babbling that I post here. Also, each time someone new joins/follows my blog, my heart skips a beat. It's very encouraging! Love you guys :)

What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?
I'm always comparing my blog to others, especially when it comes to the amount of followers other blogs have, its ridiculous. But I guess reader interaction is what counts most! Some people could have lots of followers but not many comments on their posts etc. So I dunno. But I'm happy with what my blog has achieved so far :)

What's your lasting inspiration or motivation?
Motivation for me mainly comes from other blogs/bloggers. I love reading their thoughts on products. Which usually makes me go and spend MORE money on things I really don't NEED ;) And then I end up posting about them myself. So yeah, just keep on doing what you do girls :) & Thank you all!

I Tag, anyone who fancies doing this!

Primark Spring Summer Collection 2013 - My Favourites!

Here are a selection of my favourite items from the new S/S Collection at Primark. I'm definitely going to be out buying some of these items as soon as all this snow disappears! Although the weather isn't showing any signs of warming up yet and we are already a few days into Spring! But what the hell... the new items are just too pretty to miss!

I really love all the bold colours and prints that are in the new collection, as well as some of the more prettier floral vintage looking items.

You can view the full collection at Marie Claire Online.

What's your favourite items?
If you've done a Primark haul post lately, let me know below! :)

MUA Undress Me Too Palette - Review & Swatches

When I heard that Make Up Academy had released this follow-up palette to their original "Undressed" palette (My review here) I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! It took me a good couple of weeks to find one, because it sold out as soon as they were in store! But I spotted this one sitting all alone at the back of the shelves and I snatched it up without a second thought! Especially at the very easy-on-the-purse price tag of just £4! Not to mention it's an amazing dupe for the highly raved about Urban Decay Naked 2!

MUA Undress Me Too Palette
NEW MUA Undress Me Too Palette
MUA Undress Me Too Palette

MUA have tried something a little different with this palette and gone for the white packaging rather than the traditional black. I'm guessing this is just a way of identifying it along with the rest of their new "Undress Your Skin" range which comes with similar packaging. I don't really have a preference between the black or white cases, although I think the white does make it a little cheaper looking?

Another addition is the fact that each shade has a name, as opposed to numbering them. I'm definitely a fan of this as its much easier to refer to them, especially for reviewing purposes ;) haha.

Mini Master Class MUA Undress Me Too Palette

The back of the palette contains a mini "master class", which again, I really like. I'm certainly no pro when it comes to make up application so I appreciate all the help I can get!

As always with the MUA palettes, it comes complete with a double ended foam applicator. This really is quite handy and of a decent quality, but down to preference whether you use this type of applicator or a brush.

MUA Undress Me Too Palette

Naked - A matte cream, slightly yellow toned.
Devotion - A bright metallic gold.
Shy - Similar in tone to Naked, cream but shimmer/metallic effect.
Fiery - A mid toned copper, metallic finish.
Lavish - A cool toned mid brown/beige, matte finish.
Dreamy - Deep, warm, metallic golden-brown.

MUA Undress Me Too Palette

Tranquil - A lighter, less orange-toned(than Devotion) gold metallic shade.
Exposed - A cool toned, "ash" grey metallic shade.
Reveal - Light silver shimmer.
Wink - A bronze metallic shade.
Obsessed - A deep brown shade, slight shimmer effect.
Corrupt - A plain black matte shade.

The shadows are well pigmented, however the matte shades lack a little with regards to colour pay-off compared to the metallic shades. But this is the case for a lot of high street matte eye shadows. So nothing much to complain about really.

My verdict? I highly recommend you buy this palette :)
Yet again, another fantastic palette from MUA. There are a really good range of decent quality shades perfect to create all kinds of natural and smoky eye looks! As I mentioned, a great dupe for the Naked 2 palette at a fraction of the price! Definitely the best £4 I've spent in a while anyway ;)

You can purchase from muastore.co.uk or at Superdrug.
(CURRENTLY ONLY £3, RRP £4)

If you've already bought the palette, what is your opinion on it?

NOTD| Prickly Pear With A Sprinkling Of Snowflakes

Barry M Prickly Pear / Models Own Snowflakes

Barry M Prickly Pear / Models Own Snowflakes

Barry M Prickly Pear / Models Own Snowflakes

Just a quick post today to share with you this gorgeous combination which I've sported on my nails today!

I've really been loving the new Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints lately, especially the pretty pastel shades. I decided to use "Prickly Pear" which is a medium Lilac colour. It applied completely opaque with 2 coats, and dried (as the name suggests) to a very glossy, high-shine effect.

Models Own Snowflakes is a new purchase of mine, its part of the Wonderland Collection. I really love the effect of this polish, it has a clear base filled with irridescent foil flakes. It was a little tedious to apply and try and get an equal covering of the flakes, which I eventually gave up with. However the end result is so pretty, and it reflects all kinds of different colours in different lights!

This is a perfect combination right now, especially as the weather was starting to warm up a little and everyone wanted "Spring colours" yet with a twist of Winter thrown in, as we seem to keep getting occasional flurries of snow!

What do you think? Can you think of any other shades to go with Snowflakes?

Rimmel Apocalips Review & Swatches - Luna, Nova, Celestial

Heyy!

I've actually had these Rimmel Apocalips for quite a while now, and I've seen endless reviews, swatches and comments about how amazing they are all over the blogosphere... But I thought I'd share my thoughts on them with you anyway, just in case any of you have been hiding under a rock for the past few months and haven't heard of or bought them yet!

The Rimmel Apocalips are actually described as Lip Lacquers, they have the pigmentation and lasting power of a lipstick but the texture and feel of a lip gloss. Overall I think there are 8 shades in the range, ranging from bright reds, hot pinks, pastel pinks and nudes.

I bought these while they were on a 3 for 2 offer in Boots to give them a go. I chose the shades Celestial, Luna & Nova.

"The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine. The earth-shattering lip lacquer from Rimmel London"

Packaging is always a good selling point for me in a product, and Rimmel have certainly pulled this off. With the transparent tube showing each lacquers colour easily and the cute glossy crystal shaped lids. Also the clever name play with "Apocalips" really jumps out to you. Each shade is star/galaxy/space related which makes them that extra bit "cool" haha.

Not to mention they even come with my favourite type of applicator... the Doe Foot, which has a small dip in the middle which takes up more product so you can easily cover your lips with 1 or 2 dips into the tube!

I am really impressed with the formulation of these lacquers because they are not only creamy, smooth and easy to apply but they are completely opaque and all shades I've tried have amazing staying power of at least 3-4 hours. I'm guessing the deeper shades would be even more impressive (MUST BUY MORE)

When you first apply they have a very glossy effect but do dry to a more satin finish. I found that they need to be re-applied after around 3hrs just to stop them from drying up too much on the lips.

Rimmel Apocalips Celestial is a muted dusky pink, perfect for an understated but perfected look!

Rimmel Apocalips Luna is a gorgeous peachy shade, fresh & bright colour for the summer months!

Rimmel Apocalips Nova is a pretty, bright "Barbie" pink colour, again...perfect for summer!
(Sorry for the poor quality photo, but you get the idea of the colour)

On a whole I am super impressed with the Apocalips I've bought so far, and I'm pretty sure I will complete the rest of the collection. They are great quality and very reasonably priced (especially if you get them on 3 for 2) I honestly LOVE them, and its not often I can say that about a product. I can't even think of one bad thing to say about them.

You can purchase from Boots & Superdrug in store and online for just £5.99 each!

What are your favourite shades?

Primark Haul March 2013

Heyy :)

It's been ages since I've had a clothes shopping spree, it seems to just be cosmetic buys for me lately. However my Mom told me that Primark had started to get in some of their spring collection. Which means you can grab some bargains from the winter collection which have been reduced to make way for the pretty new spring items. I picked up a few bits and pieces at the weekend and thought I'd share them with you...

Primark Haul March 2013

Primark Black Blazer Haul March 2013
Black Blazer £7 reduced from £19
I work in an office, and unfortunately, this is the kind of boring stuff I just have to buy. I do try to dress as casual as I can for work, as I am only 21 afterall. But I think you can get away with wearing leggings if you put it with a blouse and blazer ;) This one was an absolute bargain at just £7!

Primark Studded Cross Print Top Haul March 2013
Primark Studded Cross Print Top Haul March 2013
Black Sleeveless Cross print studded blouse £6
I absolutely love the print on this top, along with the studded pockets and collar, I can see me wearing this a lot!

Primark Studded Skull Print Top Primark Haul March 2013
Primark Studded Skull Print Top Primark Haul March 2013
Black Skull Print Studded Blouse £6
Again, love the print, there seemed to be a lot of this "Gothic" type clothing around in Primark to be honest, lots of crosses and skulls. But I like it, so I can't complain. I think this one is slightly more girly looking with the pretty colours on the skulls though.

Primark Burgandy Lace Top Primark Haul March 2013
Burgundy Lace Sleeveless Blouse £7
This is a really basic blouse, its a gorgeous Burgundy colour which I've been a huge fan of this winter. Unfortunately it is quite thin, so may need to wait a month or two before I can start wearing this without layers underneath. Not only do I love the colour but the lace effect at the top is so pretty, and although I think £7 is a little too expensive for such item, I had to have it!

Primark White/Black Heart Print Dress Primark Haul March 2013
Primark White/Black Heart Print Dress Primark Haul March 2013
White Heart Print Dress & Belt £13
I absolutely adore this dress, its so pretty yet can be made to look more formal too. I have several dresses of this style and I can't wait too see what others Primark bring out this Spring. Not to mention they are so cheap for a dress!

Primark Pink Ombre Studded Cardigan Primark Haul March 2013
Primark Pink Ombre Studded Cardigan Primark Haul March 2013
Pink Ombre Studded Cardigan £5 reduced from £14
As soon as I saw this I rummaged through the rail to find my size, its so pretty with the ombre effect and silver studs on the shoulders, and an absolute bargain at just a fiver! If you're looking to stock up on Winter clothes, you should definitely get down to Primark asap to grab some bargains.

Primark Black Lace Dolly Shoes Primark Haul March 2013
Black Lace Effect Pumps £5
Love the lace effect on these dolly shoes, I love to wear dolly shoes for work, and these are perfect, smart but pretty too.

Primark Leopard Print Dolly Shoes Primark Haul March 2013
Leopard Print Quilted Dolly Shoes £2 reduced from £6.
I'm not too sure what I'll wear these shoes with to be honest, but at only £2, I'm sure I'll find a use for them. I especially love the little love heart charms on the front!

Primark Pink/White Dolly Shoes Primark Haul March 2013
Pink & Cream Quilted Dolly Shoes £2 reduced from £6
Again, couldn't turn my back on these at £2! I think these will definitely come in handy in the spring/summer along with some pretty dresses :)

Primark Nail Set Red/Pink/Hearts Primark Haul March 2013
Nail Set £2
Now now Primark, what's this I see. A cute little nail set which resembles the OPI Minnie Mouse Collection extremely well?? Oooo, go on then, at just 50p a polish, who can turn this down? I really wish I had all of the OPI Polishes to compare it to, but you can check out this picture for similarities. What do you think?

Primark Owl Cushions Home Decor Primark Haul March 2013
Owl Cushions £6 each.
Last but not least, some of my followers from Instagram will know just how much I love Owls! So when I saw these adorable cushions I snatched them up straight away. They are so cute and only £6 each. I really love looking round the Primark Home section lately, they have some really lovely things. I even picked up my bedsheets(shown in this photo) from Primark, for only a fiver. I'd definitely recommend taking a look next time you're shopping.

So, what do you think of my weekend buys? Anything you like the look of?
If you've done a haul post recently, leave your link below, I'd love to have a nosey ;)
