August Glossybox, Review & Contents!

It's that time of month again, Glossybox time! I'm a little late with this post this month due it arriving earlier last week while I was taking my short break from blogging. Anyway, enough of that, onto what I received in my box...

This months was called the "International Superstars" box, and it featured products from around the world. I think the idea of this was to allow us to try out products we wouldn't otherwise have heard of or been able to try out.

If you are not familiar with Glossybox, it is a monthly subscription service which costs £10 +£2.95 P&P. Each Month you will receive your box through the post containing 5 or more luxury/higher end beauty products. You can subscribe by clicking HERE.

Alessandro Pro White (Germany) - This nail polish is designed to create an optically brightening effect for stained/yellowed nails. There is a special violet/blue pigment in the polish which neutralises the appearance of discolourations on the nail surface, making the nails look whiter, brighter and more radiant. I have tried out this product, but although my nails are slightly stained I found that the blue pigment was too much and made my nails look a little odd. I will continue using this as a base coat. This was a 10ml full size bottle, the RRP price for this is £7.85.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil (Japan) - A deep cleansing oil used to dissolve dirt, excess oil and cosmetics from the skin. Its formula is made using olive and rosemary oil to leave your skin fresh, and surprisingly not greasy(as you would normally expect from using oily products). I haven't yet tried this however I think it might work for my skin because its quite dry, so the oil base may do it some good! This was a sample size of 30ml. The full size RRP is £18.50 for 200ml.

Lipcote Lipstick Sealer (UK) - Surprisingly I've actually never heard of this prodcuct, so I am quite looking forward to trying this out. Lipcote is a transparent liquid which comes in a bottle with a brush (rather similar to a nail varnish), which you apply over your lipstick to seal in the colour, prevent bleeding and lenghten the wear time. This was a full sized 7ml product, which would normally retail around £3.99.

Glossybox Lipstick - I love that Glossybox have started including their own products lately, such as their blusher brush which I believe was in the June box. I received this lipstick in shade Glossy Pink, not only is the shade gorgeous and really well pigmented, the packaging is sleek and expensive looking too. This was a 4g product and would retail at £9.50.

Broadway Nails Impress Press-On Manicure (USA) - I was surprised to see these pop up in my box this month because I got a set in the February box. I much prefer this shade of 170 Velvet rose to the deep burgandy coloured ones I got last time! Impress Press-On Manicure nails are the "revolutionary way to apply nail polish" All you do is peel off the sticky tab, press onto the nail and you're done. There are 12 different nail sizes so you'll easily find ones to suit, and I remembered they lasted around a week before beginning to peel last time! This was a full sized product and retails for £7.99

Vera Valenti (Spain) - In all honesty this was the product I was least excited about this month. The packaging really doesn't appeal to me and I think it looks cheap and tacky. At first the colours didn't look to be much cop either, but after opening I think I probably will use the brown/neutral shades a lot, but I really don't know what's going on with the greens?! eurgh. Anyway's, don't judge a book by its cover, I'll give this a go :) This was also a full size product and retails at £3.85.

Overall I really like my Glossybox products again this month! It always seems to be a bit hit or miss with these things, but this one was definitely a hit! I'm happy that there are 6 products instead of the usual 5, and 5 of these are full sized products rather than samples!

What do you think of the items this month? What are your thoughts on Glossybox as a whole?

  8. Hey Laura, thanks for the follow & comment on my blog! Following back :-)

I subscribe to Glossybox and was disappointed with the eyeshadows as well, very cheap packaging and they don't have much staying power either - by the end of the day I had no eyeshadow on at all lol!
