Review: MUA Going For Gold Eyeshadow Palette

Today I have another review of an MUA eyeshadow palette for you.

This one is their 'Going For Gold' Palette. This is a special limited edition release especially to represent the London 2012 Olympics. It contains a mixture of shimmering golds, silvers and bronze shades, very fitting!

If you aren't yet familiar with MUA as a brand, they started out in Superdrug stores with all their products priced at just £1 each! Since then they have expanded and now have the MUA Pro range, where products can range between £1-£8. Still, great value!

The packaging is trademark for most MUA products, the simple but stylish black and transparent case. I think this is wonderful as you can easily see what's inside the palettes without having to open them. (Great idea I'd say! I hate it when you find palettes and makeup with fingermarks smudged everywhere from people messing inside the packaging!)

The only down side is the packaging is a little flimsy, I have the heaven and earth palette and the lid has actually come off the base. But, I still love it!

You may also notice the new pan style in this palette. Most other MUA eyeshadow palettes contain 12 circular shadows, whereas this palette contains only 10 shades, in square pans, but there is more of each colour and they are easier to get out of the palette!

Unfortunately MUA don't name their eyeshadows, they just call them Shades 1-10 in this palette. However it would take them absolutely forever if they had to name each and every eyeshadow they have across their ranges!  MUA have also started to include their own 'Mini Master-Classes' on the back of each of their palettes. I'm guessing these are probably created by their head of makeup artist Karla Powell? I think these are a great idea if you're a little stuck with your creative side, like I usually am!

The eye shadows themselves are still the same gorgeously soft texture that MUA always provide. They glide onto the skin easily, and the colour pay off for each shade in this palette is great. There is very little fallout while applying the shadows. Unfortunately the sponge applicator which is included in the palette isn't very good, and I would recommend a higher quality eyeshadow brush set. But hey, you can't complain too much for the price tag.

& On to the swatches...

*From Left to Right - Shades 1 to 10*

I think my favourite shades are 1,3,9 & 10. My least is probably shade 5, it is far too yellow and bright for my liking! Overall, I think this is another fantastic addition to MUA's range, and this costs just £4!

You can purchase this, along with other MUA Products at selected Superdrug Stores, and at the MUA Store online.

Have you bought this palette yet? Or are you now tempted to ;)

  7. The colours look so pretty! And they are really different from what you see in a lot of other palettes. I am such a fan of gold shadows.

    1. Yeah its a shame there isn't any matte shades, but MUA do have a lot of matte browny/gold shades in their other palettes, I'm sure we can forgive them on this one! haha xx
