Review: L'Oreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick - Tempting Lilac 101

I'd been debating whether to buy these new-ish lipsticks for ages, I loved everything about them & I finally caved in and bought two when I saw them on offer in Superdrug at 2 for £11. I picked up "Dating Coral" & "Tempting Lilac".

I've heard these lipsticks referred to as L'Oreals version of the massively hyped Revlon Lip Butters, as much as I love the look of the lip butters, these just seemed to appeal to me more :)

First off, I love the packaging, it looks so beautifully designed and sophisticated. It gives the impression of being a lot more expensive than it really is.

I believe there are 13 different shades in this range, and I found it very difficult to just pick two, it took around half an hour of hand swatching, umm-ing, rrr-ing and boyfriend nagging for me to finally decide on the two colours I thought I would wear most!

One of the shades I chose, Tempting Lilac, is a deep lilac colour with beigey-brown undertones. I wouldn't describe it as a vibrant lilac (although it looks a bit like this in the lip swatch photo due to the high light levels). I think it is a very toned down shade would be perfect for a nude/natural look.

The lipstick has a very lightweight buttery/balm kind of texture to it, I'd also describe it as having a moisturising effect. It is quite sheer, but the colour pay off is fantastic, and can easily be layered to create a more opaque look.

In terms of wear, I'd say a couple of hours at the most, but L'Oreal aren't boasting a long lasting formula which is quite often thrown around by cosmetic companies these days when advertising new products.

Overall I love the colour, packaging and the moisturising feel of this lipstick. & I will probably go and get a couple more of these in the other shades when I've got a bit more money. They are reasonably priced for the quality at £7.99 each. You can purchase from Boots in store and online, and in store at Superdrug!

What do you think? Have you got any other shades?

  5. I have this in Impulsive Fuchsia and I love the formula and texture of it! I feel the L'Oreal is more moisturising and glossy on the lips than Revlon lip butters so I prefer them!
